Dr. Korlach was appointed Chief Scientific Officer at Pacific Biosciences in July 2012. He was co-inventor of SMRT technology. He joined Pacific Biosciences in 2004. Dr. Korlach is the recipient of multiple grants, has over 54 issued U.S. patents, and is author of numerous scientific studies of SMRT technology.
Whole Genome? The Future of High-Quality, De Novo Human Genomes
New approaches to generate high-quality de novo representations of human genomes are now becoming widely available. In contrast to short-read “Whole-Genome” re-sequencing methods, de novo genomes are free of reference bias, and provide full resolution of genetic variation of all size and types, including structural variants and phased allelic variation.
